In their own words.
From players and parents to young people and the professionals who work with them.
Noor FC
My son had never played on a team before and was nervous about fitting in. Within a few weeks he was going every week without me having to ask. It’s given him something to look forward to.
I didn’t think I was good enough to join a proper club. Turns out that didn’t matter here. I just needed to show up. Now I’ve got mates I train with every week.
What stands out is that nobody gets left out. You see kids who’ve never kicked a ball standing next to lads who play competitively, and everyone gets a game.
Young people
I couldn’t cook anything when I arrived. Now I cook for my flatmate. Small thing, but it’s mine.
I have my own tenancy now and I know how to keep it. They taught me the boring stuff: bills, the council, the doctor. Turns out the boring stuff is the important stuff.
I left over a year ago and they still answer the phone.
Professionals
What I notice with Noor is that they ring me before there’s a problem, not after. That’s rare, and it makes my job a lot easier.
Support doesn’t stop when the placement formally ends, which is unusual in this sector and genuinely valuable.
